Meet Chai for Charity
Chai's mission is to inspire people to give in creative ways. Our belief is that everyone has something to give, regardless of where they are in life (20yo-me had no money, but lots of time; 40yo-me has no time, but some money). We work with hosts (like the Churi family, below) to gather their community to learn about, and invest in, local causes that matter to them. This event aims to model giving to donors of all generations by helping them invest goods and time. - Natasha, Founder of Chai for Charity
Meet your hosts: The Churi Family
Kartiki and Unmesh Churi are proud working parents of two young children and have been engaged in service projects throughout their parenting journey. They are strong advocates for community wellness and believe that every little individual contribution can make a strong impact for the larger good of the society. With this vision in mind, the Churi’s are always looking for opportunities to give back to the wonderful community they live and raise their family in. It is with gratitude that they look forward to hosting the Chai for Charity event on August 20th, 2022, in their Lafayette home backyard. At this event, the Churi’s have decided to assemble STEAM learning kits for PreK-to 1st grade children who do not have access to these items crucial for growth and learning. They have partnered with Chai to research and choose 2 non-profits that will support this project.

Meet our nonprofits
Join us to assemble 2,000 STEAM learning kits to donate to 2 local nonprofits who work with families of young children in our neighborhoods: The CO Statewide Parent Coalition who believes every child deserves access to a high-quality education, so they help bridge opportunity gaps by investing in educators and caregivers, and Wow! Children’s Museum who provides exceptional play-based learning for the diverse families of our communities – inspiring all families to nurture their children’s curiosity and spark a lifelong love of learning.
Your task
Join us in-person in Lafayette, CO (address provided later) to assemble STEAM learning kits for preschoolers who wouldn’t otherwise have access to these tools. STEAM learnings are kits that help preschoolers gain early exposure to science, technology, engineering, art and math skills, and usually contain items like dice, decks of cards, craft supplies & books. We will setup an assembly line to fill ziplock bags with all of the items and our goal is to assemble 2,000 kits. See photos from a Chai: Assembly to get an idea of what to expect.

Also, if you’re able, we ask for a $47/household reimbursement for supplies through Chai’s PayPal - Chai pre-purchases supplies in bulk to keep costs low. 100% of donations always go directly to nonprofits - Chai doesn’t keep any of it!
